If you are the praying type, below is a prayer guide to help direct you.  Enjoy!

SOAR Prayer Guide 2015

Thursday March 26
This is our first day on site at SOAR!  After getting settled in we will meet for supper and participate in an evening worship service with the other churches involved (there are approximately 20 other teams who, along with support staff, will make about 300 people involved!).  This day can feel rushed and often the student’s heads are spinning.  Please pray that we will settle in well and that we will gel immediately as a team.  Pray that we fully accept one another.

Friday March 27
This is our experiential learning day.  We will be split into small groups and led along an interactive “tour” through Winnipeg's inner-city along with all the other participants.  Second-year participants will follow a different track focusing on either Evangelism/Intercession, Poverty, or Native Spirituality.  This can be a very eye-opening experience for participants.  Please pray that the things that break God's heart would break ours also.  Pray for good questions and eager minds to learn.  Pray for dry feet and open hearts.

Saturday March 28
This day is focused on ministry preparation and team building.  We will be meet together in order to finalize the preparation for KIDS ZONE that starts on Monday.  Afterward we will participate in team building activities along with the other groups.  This is the third day away from home and the third evening with sessions in the evening.  Even though it’s near the beginning, this is usually the day when the reality of SOAR starts to sink in.  It feels like a long time since the start and a long time before the end.  Youth and leaders often begin to get tired.  Pray for good attitudes and smiles.  Pray that we grow as a team.  Pray for organization for the team as we prepare logistics for KIDS ZONE.  Pray for team time in the evening when we do foot washing.

Sunday March 29
This is a day of personal growth, rest, and inward preparation for the week.  The first part of the day will be spent at CMU where we will engage in workshops that really focus on the heart and the importance of building character.  After lunch we will participate in some team bonding time.  Tonight we’ll spend extended time praying for each other in our team meeting.  Pray that we would be attentive to God’s voice as we pray over each team member.  Pray for youth and leaders who might feel nervous for the ministry that starts the next day.

Monday March 30
First day of KIDS ZONE in St. Norbert!  Everybody will be split into different areas of responsibility and there will be lots of activity.  Please pray that we would all communicate well as we navigate the excitement of the first day.  Pray that we could learn names quickly and that significant relationships would be started.  Pray that the youth are attentive to God’s voice as He guides them on how to speak life into these wonderful kids.  Pray for energy as a team as we are now 4 full days into SOAR and pray for openness at the evening session in the evening.

Tuesday March 31
Pray that we hit our groove.  Second day of KIDS ZONE can be a lot of fun.  Pray that we sleep well, eat well, and drink lots of water.  Pray that we don’t settle into cliques but rather connect with people on the team we wouldn’t normally connect with.  Pray that we love each other and the kids deeply.  Pray for unity and love between us as leaders.

Wednesday April 1
On this day we take the kids from St. Norbert to a carnival that joins with the rest of the SOAR children programs around the city.  It’s always tons of fun but can feel like a bit of a relational marathon with nearly 4 hours of straight, non-structured, connecting.  Pray that we don’t settle into the now-comfortable motions of SOAR but rather stay open and malleable to God.  Pray that we would not get distracted from our purpose.  Pray that we would encourage one another.  Steve is also bringing the grade 7-8 students in to help at the carnival, pray that these younger students “catch” the SOAR excitement.  This is often the hardest evening meeting as a team, since everyone is exhausted from the day.  Pray that the students wouldn’t let exhaustion shorten their patience or douse their passion for growth.

Thursday April 3
The seventh full day!  This is the day that we will be presenting the gospel message to the kids at KIDS ZONE.  Pray for the youth as they have opportunities to pray with the kids.  Pray for stamina.  Thursday can be a difficult day because it is quite far in but still not close to the end.  Pray that Thursday is the best day of SOAR so far.  Pray that we worship God in a way that we haven’t yet.  Pray that we learn to pray as a team and as individuals.  Pray that God breaks down barriers in our lives and leads us into freedom.

Friday April 4
Final day of KIDS ZONE.  Please pray that we would know how to say goodbye to the kids we met in St. Norbert.  We are also hosting a closing program BBQ for the parents.  Pray that we would build meaningful relationships with the families.  Our hope is that Kids Zone would be the start of something new in St. Norbert.  Pray that we would finish SOAR strong.

Saturday April 5
Final day of SOAR.  This day is short and is focused on debrief.  Pray that we would be able to express what it is God has been doing in us this week.  Pray for re-entry into life outside of SOAR, especially for re-entry into their church the next day.  Pray for the parents, that they would be able to ask good questions and be eager listeners.  Pray for the parents as they welcome a tired and emotionally spent son/daughter home.  Pray that the seeds planted during SOAR would grow.  Pray for lasting fruit.

THANK-YOU FOR PRAYING!
