Last Night worship
Our final session is hosted at The Meeting Place. This is exciting to our students because there is space to move and jump around. One highlight was the video tutorial on how to jump while dancing (voice-over done by our own Nik Enns).
SOAR Prayer: April 2
Hello!
Today, students participated in a foot washing exercise in their team times. This practice is at the heart of Anabaptist faith, and is a great occasion for teams to humble themselves and encourage one another. Also, Holy Thursday is the day that Jesus washed his disciples’ feet. Tomorrow, they host barbeques at their ministry assignments and begin debrief. For prayer:
-As the community barbeques happen, let’s pray for families to feel welcomed and cared for by the ministry hosts along with our teams
-As we begin to debrief Friday night, let’s pray for the new things that happened on SOAR to continue into ordinary life back at home
-Many students and leaders are discerning what to do with their summer and beyond. Let’s pray that they would have discernment and wisdom, and make some commitments during SOAR
-We are also inviting students to prayerfully, with their leaders and home community, consider baptism when they return.
Thanks!

SOAR Prayer: April 1
Hi everyone,
Today was the annual SOAR carnival held at William Whyte school. We are thankful for a smoothly run, happy carnival day! Several prayer items:
-We pray that students would keep becoming able to recognize God’s voice, and differentiate it from lies. Many are being introduced to the idea that God speaks, so we pray that would continue.
-We pray for team unity – living, sleeping, and working together sometimes means conflict. May the conflict be healthy and dealt with maturely.
-We pray that SOAR would be the start of some stories of long-term ministry – that students would be called to the neighborhoods they’re serving in, and elsewhere.
Thanks!

SOAR: March 30 Prayer
Good morning!
Yesterday’s spiritual formation day at CMU was rich and full. Several things to pray about:
- We ran a workshop entitled “praying through anxiety.” It was well attended, which is a good reminder that depression and anxiety is a huge factor in our culture and our youth. Let’s pray that SOAR will be a safe place and a place of mending.
- Today (Monday) is the first day out on ministry. The ministry placements include children’s ministry, evangelism, and service. Let’s pray that students would be engaged, give it their all, and be other- centered. First days of anything can be awkward, so let’s pray that they push through that and start building good connections.
- Two or three students and leaders have had to spend a night or two at home due to sickness. Let’s pray for energy and health for them, and for the rest.
Thank you all for your partnership!
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people”
-Ephesians 6:18

Commissioning - SOAR has sent us out to serve Winnipeg!
It was such a meaningful service as we were challenged to let God work through us to impact Winnipeg this week. Thanks to the parents who came to support us tonight!

SOAR Prayer: March 28
Hi prayer partners,
Here is a little update on the program so far with some prayer requests:
-Today was a team-building and ministry prep day. This evening, students prayerfully identified lies they are believing about themselves and their identity, wrote them on paper, ripped that paper up, and exchanged them for biblical promises. Let’s pray that the truth they received would fall on ‘good soil,’ and that they’d continue believing these truths.
-We celebrate how engaged the group was during the learning tour yesterday, which had students explore first-hand the beauty and brokenness of Winnipeg and its people. My prayer is that the participants would continue in this kind of a learning posture, and keep finding ways of listening to / learning from a wide variety of people groups.
-Tomorrow, students have a day of spiritual formation. We pray that they would be strengthened, encouraged, comforted, and equipped through the prayer and spiritual disciplines that are part of the day.
Thanks!

SOAR Prayer: March 26
Hi everybody,
SOAR is beginning today! Here are some first-day requests:
-Right now, there are approximately 260 participants arriving and eating their first meal together. The is HUGE amounts of energy. For this demographic, fitting in and getting over the awkwardness of meeting new people can be difficult. Let’s pray for boldness, and for SOAR to be a safe place, so we can dive in right away.
-Tonight will be the first team-time. We pray that leaders would know how to guide conversation well.
-There are one million details going through everybody’s heads. Let’s pray for calm in this stage of info-overload.
-Tomorrow is the learning tour, where students hit the town to learn first-hand about Winnipeg. Let’s pray for safety, non-judgmental attitudes, and an openness to learn.
Thanks everyone!

We were each given a toonie to provide supper for each of us tonight.
This is a really cool attempt to experience what it's like to live on social assistance.
Some students bought Bannock, others hit little Caesars (pooled their money) and I bought a McDouble.
